Alpha-Gamma Technologies, Inc. provides solid waste engineering and consulting services to government and private clients. These services include contract support on national solid waste disposal standards development for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, regulatory compliance support to Fortune 500 companies and Federal Government facilities, and solid waste research and development for industrial and educational institutions.

Alpha-Gamma staff have conducted numerous waste to energy projects in the United States. These projects have been performed for both government and private clients, including the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, military bases, small municipalities, and manufacturing companies.

Enabling Document for the Municipal Landfills NSPS and Emission Guidelines

Alpha-Gamma prepared an enabling document to support Federal and State implementation of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's New Source Performance Standards (NSPS) and 11(d) Guidelines for air emissions from municipal solid waste landfills. This enabling document provides an overview of the standards and guidelines, guidance on implementation and compliance assurance, inspection procedures, and new source guidelines. This effort included developing guidelines on review and evaluation of proposed landfill gas collection and control systems. Design plan requirements and guidance on the review of design plans were developed. In addition, alternate collection system designs provided by the Solid Waste Association of North America (SWANA) were evaluated and acceptable alternatives were prepared as case studies.

The first waste-to-energy plant in Alabama

A small town in Alabama was facing serious landfill capacity shortage. Alpha-Gamma staff conducted a study to identify potential nearby industrial customers for steam and/or electricity. With the assistance of our staff, a contract was signed between the city and a major tire manufacturer for purchase of steam. The plant, first of its kind in the state of Alabama, was designed to use municipal solid waste as fuel and a modular combustion unit for flexibility of operation. The responsibilities of Alpha-Gamma staff included plant design, contract assistance, financing options, and project management.
